Reluctant item girl Yana Gupta's biography


Yana Gupta (or Yaana Gupta) is a model and item number dancer. She has a natural beauty, enhanced by peaches and cream complexion, drop-dead gorgeous looks, a stunning figure, and a statuesque height of 5' 9" - ingredients that are guaranteed to sweep men completely off their feet.

Yana Gupta was born on 23rd April 1979 in Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) and began modelling in the mid 1990's at the age of 16.

After graduating in Park Architecture and Gardening, she left for Japan, where she modeled for a considerable period of time.

Her real name is Yana Synkova which she changed after marriage. Her career took a turn toward the east when she married Indian artist Satya Gupta and changed her last name from Synkova to Gupta. After her marriage, she continued her modeling stints in Mumbai with Limca, MTV, Lakme, and made her entry into Bollywood with an item in 'Dum'. However, She divorced Satya Gupta in 2005. In 2008 she altered her given name to Yaana.


In 2001 she was named as the new face for 'Lakme cosmetics in India', replacing former Lakme model Lisa Ray.

Yana has been modelling since the age of 16, worked in Milan, Paris and Vienna, even working on brands like Nivea and Shiseido before settling India, where her husband is based.


Yana made her big screen debut in the Bollywood movie Dum for the song Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo which made her famous for cameo item numbers.

She has also appeared in south Indian language movies including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada movies. She is also very famous for her song "Kadhaal Yaanai" from the blockbuster Tamil film Anniyan (dubbed in Hindi as Aparichit), "Aadatanama" from the Telugu film Gharshana, and "Akaleste..." opposite Mega star Chiranjeevi from the Telugu film Shankar Dada Zindabad.


Before her career in Bollywood, she modeled for international clients like Calvin Klein and Victoria's Secret.

She has done three music videos for Shail and Merlin and Jalwa. Although Yana Gupta has been getting acting offers from Bollywood, the stunning Czech beauty is sticking to what she does the best 'song and dance'.


She played the role of a TV anchor on the countdown show Mirch Masala on Zoom TV where she danced to famous dance numbers.

Yaana was one of the strongest contenders in the popular TV show Khatron Ke Khiladi hosted by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi on Colors TV. She was a participant in a dancing show called Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, Season 4, an Indian version of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and ABC's Dancing with the Stars.


It seems that Yana is only interested in bump-grind act and does not want to graduate to full-fledged roles in films. She knows her strengths and weaknesses quite well. Yana admits that acting isn’t her cup of tea. She knows that she neither has the histrionic skills nor the command over Hindi language. Therefore the Bijli would like to stick to her forte that is raunchy item numbers.


Yana appeared on numerous magazine covers, including Elle, Cosmopolitan, Femina, and now on Maxim. Gupta modeled for the premier Kingfisher's calendar and has performed several dance numbers in films including the remix of babuji zara dheere chalo.

Amongst her interests and hobbies are playing the piano, the flute, dancing, aerobics, health, fitness, and computers. She is a vegetarian.

She is perfect for dance numbers because of her uninhibited jigs and nimble footed flair. Moreover, the svelte belle doesn’t mind exposing, although within decent limits.


Yana Gupta is always in news, Indian Media made a huge buzz about paparazzi pictures taken of Yana at a charity event in Mumbai in November, 2010, wearing no panties. Yana Gupta, Sushila Nirali - the organizer of the event and the photographer who clicked those photos were sued for the 'pantyless stunt'.

She has become the most reluctant item girl, when this hot Bollywood babe has gone topless for the FHM magazine.
